Whether you’re visiting the downtown or touring throughout the village, Downers Grove offers an incredible variety of dining with a wide range in pricing to entice your taste buds. Restaurants such as Parkers' Restaurant and Bar or Mission BBQ, awesome breakfast and lunch choices such as Honey Jam Café, the Baked Apple Breakfast Company, All Aboard Diner, and Egg Harbor Cafe. Ethnic and traditional favorites include Chama Gaucha Steakhouse, Cadence Kitchen, Pierce Tavern, rbk American Grill, Capri, Ballydoyle Irish Pub & Restaurant, and Lao Sze Chuan. Experience craft beers at Alter Brewing Company and Emmett's Brewing Company.
Shopping
Downers Grove is home to many boutiques within the downtown as well as shopping districts including Lemont Road and 75th St., Butterfield Road, and Ogden Avenue Corridor. Anderson’s Bookshop, located in Downtown Downers Grove, is a family owned bookstore run by five generations; and was named 2011 Bookstore of the Year by Publisher’s Weekly. The Spice Merchants is an example of the many gourmet and specialty shops in the downtown.
Attractions and Recreation
Within this downtown is one of DuPage County’s most popular attractions, the historic Tivoli Theatre; one of the rare historic movie houses that has not been divided into several small screens and has been carefully restored to its original splendor.
Downers Grove boasts over 600 acres of parks for recreational use with 450 recreational activities available throughout the year. On Friday nights throughout the summer, antique and specialty cars park downtown in an informal car show. The Downers Grove Golf Club, now a 9-hole course, was originally established in 1893 as the Chicago Golf Club, the first 18-hole course in the U.S. The Indian Boundary YMCA sponsors a Saturday morning farmer's market from June to October, and an ice sculpture festival is held in February.
