A city with a history rich in American tradition, this family-friendly community is located in the middle of DuPage County's nationally recognized I-88 research and development corridor. Shopping
Warrenville offers a variety of unique shops and retail venues. Its award-winning Cantera development surrounds the I-88/Winfield Road interchange and offers a multiplex newly renovated movie theater and entertainment complex, six hotels, a 24/7 world-class fitness center, corporate office buildings, more than 20 restaurants, and a variety of retail establishments serving area residents, corporate offices and visitors.
Warrenville is also close to several other major shopping areas and a comfortable drive to downtown Chicago.
Attractions
Located on the banks of the West Branch of the DuPage River, Warrenville is surrounded by five forest preserves and the grounds of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). This provides over 10,000 acres of open space for recreational opportunities such as fishing, canoeing, cross country skiing and camping. Fermilab offers regular tours and an array of concerts, art exhibits, films, science lectures and folk dancing events. The surrounding park features a large network of multi-use trails, a restored tall grass prairie, and a herd of bison.
Nearby Cantigny Park offers 500 acres of vast formal gardens, nature trails, picnic areas, an award-winning 27-hole golf course, a 9-hole youth links course, banquet facilities, and two history-rich military museums.
Warrenville's 30 miles of multi-use paths interconnect various regional recreational trails, providing direct links to the Illinois Prairie Path, the West Branch of the DuPage River Regional Trail, and DuPage Forest Preserve trails with a trail density that is the second highest in the county. This high density trail is part of why Warrenville was designated a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.
Abundant with art and sculpture, Warrenville has produced a number of both locally and nationally known artists. The Warrenville Historical Museum & Art Gallery, located in an 1858 Greek Revival style former Methodist Church, was once used as an art studio by artist Adam Albright.
